Stampscapes Focal Frame 1

Time Passed...

...did it ever.
I don't know how I feel about picking up my blog again after 2 years.  All my links are broken - I don't even have the same website anymore.
...jeepers.

I love posting my work though.  Having a store for sure makes a creative life difficult. But I'm getting older and it's time to try to let the bucket list persist.

I have to chuckle at this point and note that Blogger still hasn't fixed some of it's most basic issues.  I think I will leave all the broken links and housekeeping for now and just get some posts out there and enjoy this process.  Unfortunately - you have to read about it!  LOL!  Just skip to the end!

STAMPSCAPES FOCAL FRAME 1

It's significant to me that when I decide to take up blogging again,  I turn to - hands down - my most favorite stamp company to date..."Stampscapes".  I think it's realistic yet ethereal qualities appeal to my sense of mystery and imagination.  Sometimes I keep everything on perspective and on point and other times I don't care about that.
I dreamstamp my feelings into existence.

If you read this and are anywhere near my store...this will be a class.
You can go here if you want to explore that thought.  www.lizzygiggs.com

  • The frame is foam mounted and raised.
  • The eagle and house are foam mounted and raised.
  • I used Q-tips for a lot of coloring! So plebeian!
  • I add some softer horizon colors with my Tim Holtz Ink Applicator.
  • Nothing too hard here - just make the stamps do all the hard work and cut and foam mount a few things!

Bewildered Crazy Bird

I've spent a fair bit of time admiring the Crazy Bird Phenom happen...hoping all the while to have a chance to try my hand at them!  You've got to hand it to Tim Holtz for finding particular niches and creating product that will allow all of us to fall into the pit of card making happiness.  Now, of course, there are several matching products that have followed after the Crazy Birds....and I intend to jump right into all of them!!
Just in case you are wondering...this is the very first larger set.  And though I enjoy fussy cutting my images out immensely!...I definitely took advantage of the matching die-cuts that went along with the stamps.
This is a regular A2 card - so I found a tag that was a more appropriate size then the ones on Tim's videos.  Then I proceeded to mess around with using my Alcohol Ink Applicator, the felt tip, several colors of Distress inks and some Distress Paint Dabber with the Harlequin stencil for the tag background.
Not to mention...the cool, cool, cool, stamp borders by Dylusions!  Now I'm religiously buying all of them!...sigh...will it every end?
     I hope not!!!  HA HA!

What did I enjoy the most?

Besides the obvious fun looking little guy up there...I would have to say the Dylusions borders!  Nothing looks right until you finish it off with just the right touches!  Now I have exploding brain about what to use them with next!

What did I learn?

I may have colored my images with colored pencil on some good white cardstock - BUT - white cardstock did not work as well for the direct to paper inking!  Isn't that weird?  It's true.  When I spritzed my tag and background cardstock with water...the white made a leached look that did not add to the serendipity of the finish card.  Then I used a good cream smooth Cougar cardstock that totally reacted differently.  Plus - somehow the finish of the cardstock is different.
Unexplainable weirdness that I will not forget in my following endeavors!

Simply Made KaiserCraft Card

I never thought that I would ever become a fan of stickers...and I don't think I am...but I'm starting to give it a chance - shall we say.  It certainly makes the card go faster - and it definitely adds easy elements.   I'm starting to think that maybe I have two minds about what kind of cards I'm into.  One for sure would be the "takes too much time and now I'm sweating!"  and one would be the "simply made" card that allows you to make several variations on a theme while using up the sticker sheet.

I love, love, love the pinkish paint peeling paper and will not be able to resist making some more cards with that.  Love it!  .....yes I do!

Just another way to look at the product list here.

And here's another way to look at the card with a "coffee" background and a little distress.

Squeezed out a quick video too!  :)
